My 1990 Datejust ref 16233 was obtained used with evidence moisture got inside the watch. It's getting serviced and a new crystal, but here is my problem. The dial has very small rust spots, pretty much need a loupe to see them, but there are plenty of spots. I purchased a new Datejust 36 this week and noticed debris on the dial by the 23rd minute marker. Despite the particle being highly visible to the naked eye, I didn’t notice it while at the AD due to the bright lighting. Would this be worth returning for servicing after 3 . Probably a sign that the clear coat layer is peeling and lifting. That watch is probably at least 30 years old, and this is probably to be expected. I have an Air-King that is likely a bit older than the subject watch, and it suffers from the same problem. If the rest of the watch is in good shape, this is only a cosmetic problem. I just got my new datejust 41 and noticed that the dial has some distinct marks that sticks out pretty noticeably to the naked eye.. The mark (?) between 12 o'clock crown and 1'o clock indicator is especially problematic - I can see the mark very clearly when I look at the watch and it's not because of the crystal. It has an open creamy white dial with applied gold batons to mark the hours and a "roulette" date window that showed even days in red and odd days in black. There was no cyclops magnifier in the crystal at this time – that would be another Rolex first, introduced on the Datejust in .
